Does Buildwise check for duplicate receipts?

Yes. When you send an expense to QBO, Buildwise checks it against the expenses you've already sent, and warns you if it looks like a duplicate.

When the check runs

Only when you click Save & Sync on an expense. It doesn't run when you click Save, approve an expense, or upload a receipt.

What counts as a match

Buildwise looks for an expense that has already synced to QBO with the exact same cost, and either the same date or the same supplier.

What you see

A pop-up says: "This transaction appears to be a duplicate. Are you sure you want to push to QuickBooks?" It includes a link to the matching expense so you can compare. The warning doesn't block you. If it's a separate purchase, you can confirm and sync it anyway.

What the check doesn't catch

Labor expenses aren't checked. Two expenses that haven't synced yet aren't checked against each other. A copy of an expense that was split before it synced isn't flagged.

Synced expenses can't be sent twice

Once an expense syncs to QBO, Buildwise won't push that same expense to QBO again.

Why this matters

As an example, a supplier can send one receipt when you order and another when it's delivered. If both get entered, the cost is counted twice. The check catches an exact cost match on the same date or supplier. Anything else still needs someone to look at it.
