Why does Buildwise limit labor entries to 24 hours per day?

Buildwise has a 24-hour cap on labor entries, and that’s by design. There are a few key reasons for this:

  • Time limits are real. There are only 24 hours in a day, and most team members work across multiple cost items—not just one.
  • Accurate job costing. The system is built around daily time entry, which provides faster and more accurate job cost data.
  • Cleaner records. Daily inputs from the person doing the work ensure clear, reliable documentation for payroll, insurance, or legal purposes.
  • Operational leverage. Logging time daily creates an upstream workflow that removes the need for manual catch-up later, giving you clearer financial insights in real time—and saving you time in the long run.

If your team is hitting this cap, it's often a sign that hours are being bulk-entered after the fact. We recommend encouraging daily entries directly from team members for the best results.
