Understanding the Mobile App
The Buildwise Mobile App allows team members to use their mobile devices to track their time on a project site and upload material receipts.
- All permission levels can use the app to track time and upload receipts.
- After users categorize and submit their time or receipt, they cannot make changes in the mobile app.
- Users with Member permissions must contact their Buildwise administrator to make adjustments via the desktop.
This article provides an overview of how the app tracks time, documents expenses, and displays pay periods, as well as how the mobile submissions are viewed in the Project > Expenses tab.
Tracking and Categorizing Time
Tracking time is simple — team Members just open the app and tap Track Time! They can use the app to track time for the entire day they’re working at a project site without ever having to stop or restart the timer when they switch tasks.
- The timer continues tracking time even if users close the app.
- At the end of the day, users can stop the timer and categorize their time by cost group based on the tasks they performed.
- If users forget to stop the timer and their time-tracking session continues for more than 12 hours, Buildwise sends a push notification to the app, allowing them to stop the timer and categorize their time.
- Users can reset a shift's end time but not its start time. If changes are needed, the user must contact their Buildwise administrator to make adjustments.
- Time categorized for Lunch is deducted from the time that needs to be categorized and is visible on the Labor tabs to ensure the appropriate amount of time has been deducted.
Administrators
To use the app to track time against a Cost Group, the Time Track checkbox for that Cost Group must be selected in Company Settings > Cost Groups. Refer to the article Add or Import Cost Groups, Cost Items, and Cost Sections > Track Time.
Costs associated with the categorized time are automatically added to the project’s expenses, by cost group, as labor costs for the team member who submitted the time. The team member’s labor costs are based on either the Pay Rate (Fixed Cost) or Charge Rate (Cost Plus) entered for the team member in Company Settings > Team > Members. Uploading Receipts
Team members can use the app to upload receipts for project expenses. When receipts are uploaded to the app, the associated Materials or Trade Partner's costs are automatically added to the project’s expenses by cost group. Refer to the article Upload Receipts in the App.
Viewing Pay Periods
Team Members can use the mobile app to view their current and past pay periods. The app displays the hours they submitted for each project in the pay period.
Project Expenses Tab
On the desktop, the Project > Expenses tab displays a mobile icon for expenses tracked in the app. Administrators and Managers can adjust submissions on this screen.
